During the amalgam revision procedure our office is equipped to
minimize exposure to mercury vapor and residual ionic fragments.
This is accomplished through filter systems, an ionization process,
and a patented design suction apparatus and/or rubber dam application
when possible. We are a mercury-free dental office and utilize dental
materials that are biologically safe and compatible. Our office
follows Dr. Hal
Huggins' as well as International
Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) protocols for
dental mercury amalgam revision.
Our office features the latest in dental technology including:
Cavitational Scanner- Ultrasonic apparatus used to detect
avascular and/or necrotic sites in the jawbones.
Osteonecrotic Surgery- Debridement or cleaning of necrotic
or dead bone sites in jawbones.
Laser Technology- Method of performing fillings pain free
eliminating the necessity of needles, as well as cleaner more accurate
surgical procedures.
Digital Radiography- Allows immediate viewing, lowered exposure
to X-rays, more comfortable film placement, and magnified view of
images, increasing patient acceptability to treatment.
Intra oral Photography- An exciting new technology that allows
capturing of images in the oral cavity that would otherwise remain
unseen by the patient allowing for better understanding of treatment.
Far Infrared Sauna- Recognized as perhaps the most effective
method of removing both chemical and heavy metal toxins from the
body.
Ionic Foot Bath- Another process in which toxins are removed from
the body ionically by submersing the feet in a special foot bath.
Our office staff will attempt to acquire as much information as
possible by phone, and will mail out an information packet with
registration forms and directions, to maximize patient convenience.
The patient will have the opportunity to address questions to Dr.
Frazier on the first visit. During this visit, when required, a
pan oral X-ray, bitewing X-rays, study models, and blood pressure
will be taken. The doctor will do an oral exam of hard tissue and
soft tissue, cancer screening, TMJ assessment, thorough dental and
medical history. At this time the doctor will determine the status
of the patients' gums and surrounding tissue to ascertain what type
of cleaning the patient will require. Some cleanings might be simple
and others might be more involved depending on the amount of tartar
buildup and the date of the last cleaning. This data will be reviewed.
When indicated the doctor will present a written report and discuss
the findings along with a treatment plan at the next appointment.
Also when indicated, the doctor might suggest a blood serum biocompatibility
test, which is an antigen-antibody test. This test will help the doctor select dental materials the patient can tolerate without
the possibility of a reaction. For patients with other symptoms
such as chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, persistent allergies, etc.
the doctor will take a more investigative approach to see if there
could be a relationship between the patients' health status and
other existing dental conditions. Typically, the doctor enlists
the assistance of either the patient's personal physician or one
of the physicians or naturopaths that she is allied with to rule
out such possibilities as mercury toxicity, osteomyelitis, or osteonecrosis,
all of which can burden the immune system. The practitioner can
test the patient for possible mercury toxicity and other invasions.
If it is determined that this is a probability, the patient can
begin a regime for detoxification. Supplements and other alternative
support may be suggested to help rebuild the immune system. Less
toxic patients would only require the basics in maintaining
their optimum dental health.
